With the first wave of electric cars coming into production sometime in the late 90’s, these strange but yet enticing vehicles didn’t strike the American eye as a particularly “cool” alternative to driving. Toyota, General Motors and Honda were some of the first companies to introduce this new method of transportation to the everyday automotive consumer for mass production.

For Americans, this was a strange leap towards the future. If you remember the craze of flying cars and teleporting, these cars were the first step towards this mystical future. Americans didn’t really enjoy the fact that they would have to trade in their American muscle car for a puny gutless electric vehicle because it produced “less emissions.” Huge oil and gas companies didn’t like the fact that they could potentially lose their customers to this new invention, stepping away from conventional combustion engines into a full electric vehicle not too far in the future. Needless to say, the electric car wasn’t embraced with open arms.
Speed up a couple decades to 2020, there is a HUGE plan to multiply the electric car fleet in China. With companies like Toyota, Tesla and Honda still pressing forward in the production of faster and more efficient electric cars, growth plans are a huge talk for countries in regards to the refueling standards for these vehicles.
An article published in ASME Magazine, talks about the new “Charging Stations Bloom” in China come 2020. They are planning to scale up on the charging station accessibility by more than 12,000 stations by this time. The National Energy Administration’s Power Department discussed how they could make this possible, and pressed forward setting rules and regulations on charging stations to electric vehicle ratio if this ramp up was going to be possible. China needs to install at least one charging station for every 2,000 electric vehicles produced, and at least 10% of public parking spaces are to be charging accessible as well. The government is willing to allow charger manufacturers to issue corporate bonds and outside investing opportunities lay on the table.

If I were you, I would look into buying stock before its too late! A list of these companies can be found at Go Electric Drive. Although this is a proposed plan for 2020, there is no doubt that we are a growing population and low emission production is the inevitable future for the automobile industry.
